Does it make sense to choose the VPN server in my own country?

If you find your native country in the list of server locations you can connect to it. You will get an encrypted and fast connection as you are much closer to the VPN server and it’ll take less time for data packets to travel between the VPN app and the server. But you will not be able to bypass local geographic restrictions or government censorship. Connecting to a server in your own country is a good option if geo-fencing is not important.
